The Providing Hand of God

Does God know our needs?  He absolutely does!

     For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him.  
Matthew 6:8b, NKJV

In the Lord's Prayer, Jesus guides us to petition our Father for the most basic of human needs:  food.  
"Give us this day our daily bread."  
Matthew 6:11. 
 He knows what we need, but still wants to hear us ask.  By asking we acknowledge that our very existence is dependent on the provision of our Father.  Even if our pantry is overflowing, we know that it is full only because the Lord has provided that blessing.  Even in a state of abundance, the Bible teaches that our attitudes should remain in a state of need. We are instructed to ask for just enough for this day.  Relying on our Father for our basic needs is important for us to recognize that our existence is in His hands.  This leads our hearts to respond in humility, gratitude and praise.  

As we see our Father provide our basic necessities for survival, we gain trust and our faith is bolstered.  All of our other requests can be laid before Him, knowing He is able to provide and sustain just as He has proven to us daily.  What relief is found in resting in His faithfulness!  All of our cares can be cast on Him! He is faithful to provide every physical, emotional, and spiritual need that we have.


Just as the Israelites were provided manna for the day, we are given grace, wisdom and strength for the trials we face today.  He can be trusted to provide the grace for tomorrow's trials tomorrow! But, for today, we ask and trust Him for today's needs.  We know He is faithful to provide, because He has done it every day of our lives! 
    I am praying that you will find rest our Father today.  He is faithful!

Adorning the Gospel

  We all love to make things look nice, don't we?  Ourselves, our children, our cars, our homes --- most people like for our lives to be attractive to others and for our own enjoyment.  While I usually brush it off as false, Sam knows that I love hearing him or the kids tell me I am beautiful.  The beauty of nature is breathtaking.  God made us all to love pretty things.      Brother Doug has been leading us through the book of Titus recently.  Titus 2 speaks to every category of Christian -- older men, older women, young men, young women, and those in bondage.  A couple things stood out to me as Doug was teaching that have been running through my mind for the last couple of weeks.   3  Older women likewise are to be reverent in behavior,  not slanderers  or slaves to much wine. Joy To The World!

     One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is the music!  Christmas music brings a special element of joy to the season.  There are so many great Christmas songs in almost every style, from whimsical and folksy all the way to classical.  I am always excited for the time when the radio station switches to all Christmas music so that our car rides are serenaded with the sounds of the season.  The familiar melodies are comforting and cheerful, for the most part.  Many of these songs have been ingrained in my mind since infancy and I can't remember a time that I did not know them.  Just like all familiar music, however, I catch myself mouthing and humming along to lyrics that I know like the back of my hand without giving any consideration to what those words mean!  My older kiddos don't always appreciate this overly analytical approach to music that may cause me to nix a song or two from their playlists at times.  However, f...
